Ivo was great with showing us the house and meeting us for our late arrival. As far as the eye can see on a clear day, and just as stunning being in the clouds on a misty morning. The house has everything you need and much more. We loved the pool/hot tub and sauna combination! You would benefit from having a car as it's in central Istria, but everything is still very close. It's perfect for people that want a quiet location to relax. The only downside of our experience had nothing to do with the house itself, but with the neighbours treatment of their dog. If you are a real animal lover and don't want to see a caged up ( very friendly ) dog that begs for attention and it's permanent home is in that cage right beside your parking spot, then I would NOT recommend the house. Again, this has nothing to do with Ivo's house , it was fantastic, but we're animal lovers and it's heartbreaking. Bad circumstances. (Airbnb, October 2023) (D. Bene)

We were blown away by our stay in Pićan, the villa was perfectly presented and our host was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable and generous. The village itself is beautifully quaint with wonderful residents who made us feel so welcome and our little boy now has some pen pals! We especially loved enjoying the hot tub/pool (which is huge) in the sun in the day and by stars at night. Pićan is perfectly situated, it was so easy to get to Pazin, Rovinj, Pula and Rabac (which we loved for swimming in the beautiful clear sea). Our stay at Villa Paola was simply unforgettable! Everything – including the house, facilities, hospitality of our host, together with the village people – was beyond our expectations. To start with, the position of the village Pićan is perfect for those nature lovers as well as for more adventurous spirits; close enough to visit a different beach every day and at the same time to enjoy the picturesque landscape of the peninsula's innland while driving through, before you reach the coastline. Charmful Pićan remained pure and unspoilt by massive tourism, and this makes it even more attractive. The appearance of this small town is caught in medieval time, with just a few locals living in the old city center,  which is the reason you actually feel privileged while entering the narrow old city portal until you find this wonderful house –which is, literally- placed at the end of the village! Villa Paola was built as the very last house of the area, followed by nothing more than an abyss, offering a magnificent view of the surroundings! (to be clear - the owner was waiting for us and took us directly to the house, so we didn't feel lost at any time.) Beside panoramic point, the absolute winner among highlights was jacuzzi/pool. A fact that you can adjust temperature and enjoy it even on a fresh starry night was just awesome! Not forget  to mention the open roof top of an old re-established stable, where the pool is situated. And, after the bath, you just continue your wellness in sauna, another facility that can be found inside the property…amazing! Last but not least – we were so impressed by our host Ivo and his wife Silvija, being soooo nice, helpful and relaxed! They provided us with all information needed, willing to help any time! And we also had a chance to taste an excellent local wine from Ivo's vineyard. Thank you Silvija and Ivo, for creating this unique and grandiose holliday home! A wonderful experience

The hosts were very kind and helpful, and non-intrusive at the same time. The location and the surroundings are exceptional as every corner of the village/medieval town gleam with history and details that at the same time excite you and bring on a sort of melancholy. It almost seems that on one corner time has stopped 150 years ago and on the next one it's flourishing. The houses are basically on the cliff face with breathtaking view, and the experience is enhanced by the flights of swallows that nest nearby. The accommodation is modern and very well thought through. You can see that a lot of thought and effort was put into the restoration and adaptation work. Total relaxation at a truly extraordinary place

We spent 1 week in this wonderful house as a group of 4 people (2 couples). The 2 bedrooms would fit for a family with children, too. Just to clarify this here, if you are impressed by the pictures on the website (as we were), the pictures are no exaggeration at all. Imagining that this house used to be an old ruin until only some time ago, it is truly amazing what splendid place the owners created out of it. More to it, what cannot be adequately captured by the pictures is the view from the house. The view is really breathtaking as this house sits on top of a mountain in a tiny village, overlooking the valley with an at least 180° view. Another highlight is definitely the pool, which is located in a separate building on the premise with complete privacy. This is not an ordinary pool, but a swim spa jacuzzi, perfect for relaxation. As there is no roof on that building, you can enjoy watching the stars while chilling in your jacuzzi. What finally made this trip perfect was the super nice, friendly and caring host/owner. After a very warm welcome at our arrival, he was always approachable for any questions and help we required. He even helped us with getting delicious meat from a local butcher for barbecue at the house and reminded us about St Lovre's night (night with high activity of shooting stars), which is just beautiful to watch from that place. Villa Paola is a very beautiful house located in a small historic town. It´s very well-appointed and really nicely done up. During ouor stay we especially enjoyed the fantastic view from above over green, beautiful Central-Istria and the privacy in small town of Pican. Ivo is an awesome host! He helped us a lot with orientating and organizing in Istria, gave us helpful tips. We all the time felt very welcome and comfortable! I cannot recommend our stay here highly enough - it was just perfect. I will not go into the details as people in other reviews already covered that in a detail. The owner was really friendly, helpful and responsive to our messages. The little town of Pican has a great vibe where you can really live a local, non stressful life there (as it not so touristy which was a plus for us) and there are lot of places and activites if you get "bored" of the villa, which is hardly the case. There is a store nearby and also a nice little tavern in a village nearby. We would definitely come back! October 2020. (Marin)

Wow, AMAZING!! The house is located in a small, quiet, cute village. There is not much more than a small market, so you would need your car to go to a restaurant or supermarket. The house itself is spacious, clean, modern and very nice! Also, the garden and swimming pool were great! The view is absolutely amazing, we couldn’t get enough of it and I still dream about it. Ivo and his family are the best hosts you can get. He made us feel so welcome and if we had any questions or needed help he responded quickly. Tip! We could also order fresh fish via Ivo and you should do that too, so delicious. We would / hope definitely to come back in the future. (Sascha 2021)

We felt very comfortable in Villa Paola. The view of the countryside from the house and the terrace is breathtakingly beautiful. We also really enjoyed the quiet. The rooms are modernly furnished and clean. WiFi worked perfectly. The pool area in the annex building is comfortable, pool temperature 31.5 degrees. Ivo, the very nice and helpful landlord, is always available with advice and action. Pićan is still spared from tourism. There is no restaurant in town but a bakery for small errands. For larger purchases there are a number of supermarkets in Labin, where there are also some good restaurants. This was our second time at Villa Paola and we will definitely be back. Super nice accommodation and a smooth process. We were in good contact with the landlord, he was very nice and helpful and available immediately if we had any questions. Check in/out uncomplicated. The accommodation corresponds 1:1 to the pictures and is fantastically beautiful. Location: No shops in the town, but large supermarkets are less than 10 minutes away by car.
